Tonya McKenzie is the founder of Sand & Shores, a public relations and media relations consulting firm, and the Sales Director & Publicist for StartingPoint. She is an international speaker, a Los Angeles County Commissioner, and a public relations expert specializing in storytelling, building community, and increasing brand awareness.

She uses AI plus 30 years of public relations experience and marketing strategies to help businesses and organizations increase their leads, profits, and media exposure. Commissioner McKenzie is also the host of Leaders & Learners Podcast, speaking to leaders, experts, authors, and personalities to discover and discuss the story behind the story.

Tonya was the first African American woman elected to the Redondo Beach Chamber of Commerce, Board of Directors and the first Black Redondo Beach Woman of the Year. She serves as the Vice President of Black Public Relations Society – Los Angeles and serves on the Advisory Board for Better Youth.

Tonya McKenzie can be found highlighted in the pages of Amazing Moms: Parents of the 21st Century, her memoir titled, A Child's Memories of Cartoons and Murder, and her professional books and manuals. Tonya has been married for over 22 years and has four kids, including a set of twins.
